Settlers Bush, being steeped in Taranaki history, is a unique and desirable dwelling place. It has been home to some of New Plymouth's first families, who cherished the environment for a hundred and fifty years and lovingly protected the vast areas of native foliage.
The area is home to some of Taranaki's original native trees, including a Puriri tree understood to be over 1000 years old. Native birds, owls and Moreporks flourish in this environment. A haven of pristine native trees, Settlers Bush is being lovingly replenished with further planned planting
The owners have completed mass planting of further trees and plants to ensure the future of the bush and preserve the unique environment, choosing more of the area's natural vegetation, including Matal, native fuchsia and Puriri trees.
The subdivision has been designed carefully around the large tracts of original native forest and bush. The development is punctuated with new planting and stands of existing original trees and plants.
